Championship Baseball - 1979 Here is your opportunity to relive one of the all time great series in baseball! This player set features the 1979 Baltimore and Pittsburgh teams. The respective champions from both leagues that year. Each team has a full roster of 25 players, making for a 50 player card set.

This 1979 Champions player set comes on individual cards. The cards used are of the same quality cards as those used in such games as 'Magic: The Gathering'. Cards are made with a 12 point 305gsm black-core matt card stock. This provides excellent color quality, sheen, and snap back. Cards are poker sized. (2.5 x 3.5")

The Pittsburgh roster is printed in light yellow on the data side and darker yellow/gold on the reverse. The Baltimore roster is printed in light orange on the date side and darker orange on the reverse. Each roster has 9 pitchers and 16 position players.

The card backs have the city name printed horizontally up top. Then 1979 is printed at the bottom at a 45 degree angle to fill out the card back. This way, you can tell at a glance which team the card belongs to.

In 1979: Pittsburgh had 98 wins and 64 losses and captured the NL title. The disco hit "We Are Family" by Sister Sledge was used as the team's theme song. Baltimore had a record of 102 wins and 57 losses. They went on to claim the AL title before losing the overall 1979 championship to Pittsburgh, 4 games to 3.
